    Hi
Been using a Bontragee FR3 front but these are no longer available so I need an alternative.
    Something with a bit of volume-minimum 2.2
    Cheers

Ardent seems pretty good. A 2.25 on the front got me through a very wet 12 months with no dramas.

Running an on one chunky monkey, pretty massive but lots of fun and rolls pretty well for the size. Dirt cheap as well.

Hans Dampf, not the cheapest, but a very good tyre!

2.35 Nobby Nik on the front of my Gryphon. Good volume and reasonably fast rolling. Good over a mix of surfaces.

+1 for Hans Dampf (feels a tad sluggish, but persevering atm)

Ran a Continental Mountain King 2 for a while which was nice.

+1 on the chunky monkey, or the smorgasbord for a bit narrower.

Whenever i run my 29er tyres at 20 psi (like the internetz recommends) they are bloody horrible in corners, im not running massive tyres either, 2.2 on stans 355.

Knard is great for volume and good for grip, chunky monkey is great for grip and good for volume. Depends what bike, what rim.

Hans Dampf is a good all-round grippy tyre that rolls well for its volume and girth. The 2.35 is a big so and so on a 29er rim. I’m now using the Mountain King II – race version which is expensive but has been great in mud, loam, hardpack, etc.

Get a wider rim? Not sure but think 355 is 19mm inner?

2.35 Nobby Nic last couple of years in all conditions, too lazy to change summer/winter etc.

Ive looked into it but 2.2 is not exactly pushing it?

    HDs have stiffer reinforced sidewalls.
