Just bought myself a Gaggia Classic but want to get a decent grinder to get the best out of it. Any recommendations?

The one with the chute on the chute on the front unless your making loads

Gaggia MM cheap as etc but bloody noisy creates loads of static and the grinds go everywhere. DO NOT BOTHER mine lasted a week before it got sent back for a refund.

Get a Burr grinder check various coffee forums for recommendations, I ended up with a Rancillo Rocky grinder and I have been happily using it for 6 years.

I would advise against a doser grinder get one which you grind as required

I’d rather invest in a decent grinder to get the best out of the machine so don’t mind spending out on something good quality. I just don’t know what’s good and what’s bad so i’ve been basing my judgements (no doubt wrongly) on their price point alone.

Cold war style casing (and the fact the go button fell off mine the first time I pressed it) aside… damn good grinder. Apparently has the same internals as much more expensive models.

I have upgraded my Gaggia Classic after 6 years to a semi commercial machine because of my love of coffee but the Rancillo Rocky remains buy right buy once, as you have done with the Classic.

Once you have the grinder sorted have a look at this

As for coffee beans I use http://www.wogancoffee.co.uk/ in Bristol

If you want a step up in quality then a mahlkonig vario is a good bet for the home, compact and very quiet and no static issues. It’s swiss made so not china cheap but very well made.

I bought a krups burr grinder a few weeks ago.
You can adjust how fine you want your coffee and how much coffee it grinds. £39.99 well spent.

Bought it from my local shop the hebden cook and coffee co.

I have had a Bodum one for a couple of years now and really like it. It too can grind to different levels and a timer controls tge amount.

My Hario Skerton cost me a lot more than this (£37 rather than ~£20), when I bought it. Been using it pretty much daily for a year now, fairly quick to do a double espresso’s worth, not messy and is consistent.
Could do with a finer adjustment wheel and a cover to stop beans flying out if it wobbles too much.
