I’m looking to explore trails in the above-mentioned areas with the help of guide books/maps. Where possible, I’d like to avoid boring old bridleways and stick to the more fun singletrack stuff, which I know is in abundance.
Here are some guide books I came across on Amazon:
South East Mountain Biking: North & South Downs (Nick Cotton, 2013)
Mountain Bike Rides in and Around North and South Downs (Max Darkins, 2007)
Mountain Biking on the North Downs (Peter Edwards, 2014)
Mountain Biking on the South Downs (Peter Edwards, 2011)
One of my worries is that these guide books will omit the real fun stuff due to concerns over its legal status for use by mountain bikers. This is certainly the case with some of the trails I ride in Surrey Hills.
Has anyone used any of these? Anything else I should consider?
Detachable OS Maps/pdf printouts would be a bonus btw, as carrying a heavy book in my backpack is far from ideal.
