Hi Guys,

I have a rigid fork on my Merlin at the moment and want to upgrade. I want a reasonable quality 100mm fork with V brake bosses that weighs around 4lbs for under £200. I have looked at Rock Shox and come to the conclusion that the recon is the best bet, but have no idea on the Marzocchi range.

Is it possible to get the spec I want for my budget? and will it be as good as the RS Recon?

I'd go 2nd hand on that budget.

Personally, I'd spend a bit more and get the 2010 RS Reba SL's from Merlin at £225 – they're certainly light enough; stiff too. (Have a pair myself.)

The Reba sounds good, but am limited because I need the V brake bosses too. The more expensive I go the less chance of having the V fittings.

Whoops, my bad – missed the v-brake bit! Sorry.
