The wife has been messing around with my camera and I was thinking of buying a bridge type camera with manual controls for Christmas.

I had look on Amazon for a beginners book and there are literally dozens.

    Any recommendations?

This one. Hands down the most useful photography book I’ve read.

Agree with perchypanther. Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson. Borrowed a copy off my brother when I started. Went and bought my own copy and still refer to it.

I’ve also got that Photographer’s Eye book. Both very good.
