/He is just back from Oz and doesn’t know the South of England. Great plumber though and needs a sat nav to help find the houses.

Cheap as you can get. Are there monthly fees etc?

What features should he look for?

A couple of cheaper ones here: Ebuyer
But Garmin customer service is excellent and I would spend the extra 7-9 quid on the garmin.

I will let him know. Cheers.

Does he pay subscription for updates or how does that work when the maps change?

No subscription, you could update the maps in 18 months or so, but TBH, it would probably be cheaper to just buy a new one and ebay the old one every couple of years.

AA roadmap £4.99 at most good service stations 😆
