    Beacause I'm slow enough allready without having to lug around my DSLR..

    Just want a half decent compact..

    I got a Panasonic LX3 for that very reason. Couldn't be bothered to carry an SLR when on long walks and rides.
    Its a very good compact camera that has a fast wide angle lens. That said if you like using a zoom it may be better to look at the canon G10.

    Someone will be along shortly to suggest the IXUS. I have the G10 and love it. Slightly bigger than a normal compact, but then I think it is a lot better than a normal compact.
