We get to pay for them every time they rear there ugly heads in many direct and indirect ways.

Without being overly simplistic who/what/what combination is responsible? How much of it is out of our political masters control/subject to oversees events? Are we responsible as is often implied, did we all just decide to do less work from 2007 onward?

Can Britain remain a powerful economic force with it’s diminishing appetite for exploiting poorer nations for resources? It would appear other nations have no such scruples and have picked up where we left off!

Given Economics is not a new subject of study and it is taught at our highest seats of learning i.e. where politicians study, is it acceptable for politicians particularly Chancellors to pretend negative issues are coincidental and/or accidental/unforeseen, the fault of previous government (as long as it’s the opposition) with the incumbent not being culpable in any way.

Do people actually buy into the outlandish and fanciful soundbites they inflict on us via media, which fly in the face of the most basic economic and business principles and could never work unilaterally in practice, which to me seems to be presented to the public for the sake of being seen to be doing something.

Fantastic statement, are you talking about the huge fleets of merchantmen we currently have ploughing the oceans blue, laden to the gunnels with irreplaceable banana, palm oil, tobacco, coffee, tea. cocoa………..curry powder.

More the direct control over exports from colonies/oversees interests, which were very much a contributing factor to Britons growth and we no longer enjoy to the same extent as top tier recipients.
