Got a couple of nice dents in my rear crest rim, was thinking of rebuilding it with an arch rim but…

    1. Is the arch stronger with regards to rim impacts? The damage to the crest looks like its from hitting stuff square on, the arch is the same design but has an internal brace for strength, will this help with strength around the lip?

    2. Will I need new spokes? the dimensions of the two rims are the same…

Anything else I need to consider?

    I would use new spokes.

If you hit an Arch rim hard enough it will dent.

    You should also consider:
    – pumping your tyre harder
    – improving your skills

Re using spokes is fine if they are the same length or close.

I have often reused spokes but never the nipples and yet to have a problem
As long as the length is ok of cource

Re use spokes, its a old chesnut.

But, if you’ve not had issues with spokes failing (not beening broken by other stuff) then they should be fine.
