Need advice on my rear shock (softail frame, Magura Rond CP air + oil shock, only 32mm of travel).

It feels dead – if I add air to get some active rebound and damping, it’s v stiff, giving really limited travel.

If I let a little air out to get the appropriate sag (25%), the shock ‘sinks’ and I only have 20mm stanchion on show and no rebound/overly damped.

It has rebound and compression adjustment which has minimal effect.

    The stanchion is quite oily.

Overall, it’s as if the shock has no life in it, it’s dead. It’s pretty new and in great nick so can’t believe it’s been over-used.

What can I look at / test to determine the fault (and it’s a ltd edition shock so can’t Google a manual). Am wondering if it’s low on oil?

    Any help – please!

and don’t know if this is relevant, but the max pressure for the shock is 200psi, but it seems locked solid at c.100psi
