Do you think specialized will give me a new mech after my X9 exploded whilst changing up the gears?
    Bike is 4 months old

Depends what caused it. If no obvious sign of impact damage/dodgy maintenance/etc then it should be a warrenty job. However, check the wording, may need to claim from SRAM rather than Spec. The LBS you bought the bike from should be able to help

    No I don’t.
    1) Spesh didn’t set your bike up, presumably either you or a shop did.
2)It’s worked fine for four months so there’s no ‘fault’ with it.

Is this not just a case of (dare I say it) poor general maintainence?
Either that or just poor luck?

Sorry Bud, I might’ve got the wrong end of the stick here, I made the assumption the mech had gone in the wheel, re-reading it it seems that may not be the case.

The store you bought it is the first port of call regardless of blame any-how.
