My bike, (Banshee Spitfire) has a rear maxle?, 2 piece, long bit goes right through, small bolt goes in the end and tensions long piece against the drop out and they both tighten up with an Allen key.

Can I replace this with a QR type maxle?

    Current on like this one?

http://www.ison-distribution.com/ are the UK distributor so they may know if no one on here has changed theirs for another type

Nope.. That’s a Shimano E-Thru axle, the Spitfire uses the Maxle standard which is a thicker thread and no nut on the end. The end nut that comes with the axle the Spitfire comes with is a safety nut to stop the axle from unthreading over time and threads into the axle rather than onto it, the same thing is achieved with the q/r lever on a maxle.

There are 3 142×12 axle standards currently :

Maxle : Thick thread no nut, flat interface on the Q/R end.
E-Thru : Thin thread with nut, flat interface on the hex/QR end
Syntace X12 : Thin thread, no nut and domed interface on QR end.

    Aren’t standards fun.!! 🙄

    Bungalistic, yes, spot on.

I contacted Banshee, the thread is the same as Rockshox maxle.
