    Avid Elixir 5’s for info.

Generally faultless so far but after a very sticky muddy ride on saturday it seems the rear has locked up. As i was washing it down today i noticed the rear wheel was very stiff and hardly moving. I have cleaned any dirt out of the brake caliper, pushed in the little red block that pushes the pads apart but it is still dragging badly nearly locking the wheel up, i can’t see any issue with the caliper or pads.

Any ideas so i dont go round in circles.

    maybe stating the obvious but…

slacken the caliper bolts, spin the wheel and gently apply the brake til the wheel stops. hold the brake on and pinch the bolts (low torque). Re-spin the wheel. if it spins freely you got it. if it doesn’t repeat the above until it does.

Centre the brake by eye, not by using the pistons! Sounds like have a sticky piston.
