    Someone gave me a torque wrench (rather a cheap one I think – X Tools) and the instructions are a bit vague.

    Should you loosen off the screw at the bottom after you’ve used it? As a rule I’d always leave things loose rather than tight when I put them away but I know nothing of the witch-craft that goes on inside a torque wrench.

    Yes you are “supposed” to back them off when not being used but to be honest i never do with mine and i’ve been using them for 10yrs + and they always pass the calibration tests every 6 months!!
