No but somewhere I have the plans for a boat similar to the one on the home page on the bottom left that my uncle built many years ago

I’ve not seen the long range forecast recently, is it that bad?

IIRC some guy in Chester was building a boat, using concrete, in his front garden.

Erm not quite, but I did help to fully restore a Norfolk Punt whilst at Uni in Norwich.
A mates father had one down Lowestoft way and we spent the 1st year summer re-planking it. It was hard work tar and corking the hull, looked blomin ace when we finished it though.

If you are attempting a clinker hull I’d deffo get a jig setup first, you’ll need some hefty timbers to hold the frame whilst the planks get laid..

    Have fun..

    Glug, glug, glug..

Shall we call you Captian Pugwash from now on????

I know someone who did (bit like the one in the pic above). Took him a while, but it’s really nice.

    Yes,

Was an awesome project at the beginning of this summer,
Would be a good winter project too as long as you have somewhere warm to work (and to allow the epoxy to go off properly)

Probably cost around £250 in materials in the end as I made mine in two halves (stainless steel joining hardware costs alot), you could do it for around £200 if you did it conventionally..

My dad did when I was a kid, about 12′ and he built it in our front room…

Mum was (and is) very understanding.

Needed to take out the window to get it out.

    Gaff rigged ketch.

Wouldn’t do it again. It’s cheaper to buy a good boat secondhand, and you get in the water now, not next year or the year after…

My brother picked up a brand new 45ft steel yacht for a song. The owner had spent 10 years building it for his retirement and then became infirm. (Brother lives on it in Cairns harbour North Queensland – a hard life 🙂 )
