Lost in the signal-to-noise of another thread.

I was looking the other day for a fitment guide and read that the handlebar reach would be about right if you put your elbow against the tip of your saddle and then your forefinger should be at about the midpoint of your stem. Don’t know if it’s reliable or not so would be interesting to see others’ responses on that!

    Any thoughts?

Yes it was an old method of guess fitting a frame. Though IIRC it was elbow on saddle rivet and fingers just touching bars. Then of course frames were often square i.e 54/54 There wasn’t much in the way of variation when it came to geometries back then either.
I still do it though 😕

Handlebars obscuring front hub when riding tends to be my rule of thumb for sizing. But have used the method mentioned. And yes, it was elbow on the end of the saddle, fingertips on bars.
