The Love Guru. Terrible unless you’re under the influence of something at which point it becomes a bit funny.

Before that I watched Ferris Buellers Day Off which is great and everyone needs to see it at least once.

Duplicity. I found it deathly dull. Really wordy and complicated and boring.

Fantastic Mr. Fox, in contrast, was very entertaining. Much better than I expected.

Tucker and Dale vs Evil was quite funny.

Best movie I have seen recently was How I Ended This Summer, Russian film.

Quite liked Anything for Her, French.

That one with Jake Gyllenhall where he gets to relive the last 8 minutes before a train crash was just stupid, don’t bother.

The original Superman. I forgot how funny Gene Hackman is in it. 8/10. Really enjoyed it.

Into the Wild. I’ll award it 4 clenched fists out of 5, in the style of Metal Hammer. Rather beautiful to watch, superbly acted, and managed not to oversimplify a pretty complex thing. Didn’t try to make the irrational make sense. Oh and lovely soundtrack.

‘Freaky Friday’ with my daughter, actually quite good fun despite my predictions of torture.
‘The American’ with George Cloon, I noted he produced it and judging by the love interest all I could think was; sly ol’ devil.

We Need to Talk About Kevin

In and out of focus for the first half hour – aggravating and unnecessary, boy is too malevolent to be believable, lacks depth.

    Schlock horror/thriller dressed as art-house.

    Go see it!

Captain America, on the flight over.

I wonder if we were on the same flight…. I watched it too and it was tripe.

Also watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes which made almost no sense.

Arrived and watched The Rite on HBO and that was uber crud.

    I don’t really like watching films……

Kate Winslet was in it and it wasn’t Titanic. So 8/10 then.

    Attack the Block

Shaun of the Dead with ghetto kidz and a bit of moralising. A fairly entertaining way to pass 90 minutes, even if you have seen it all before.

    6/10

Thought it would be honk, but was absolutely gripped! Disengange brain, sit back and watch things go bang. Gotta love Denzel as well.

Stake Land: 7/10 it wasn’t what i was expecting and generally a good watch. It was a bit like a cross between Zombieland, the Walking Dead and elements of the road.

I’m Intrigued ton: what is so wrong with the ending of No Country For Old Men? I though it suited the film and made a nice change to the usual blockbuster endings.

    The Social Network – 5.5/10

Initially a lot of fast talking that I found a bit hard to follow occasionally, some deliberately geeky stuff that was a bit lame, but the last 30 mins or so lifted it up a little. Justin Trousersnake was better than I thought he would be, Jessie Eisenberg is now totally typecast as the outcast nerd.

    Meh.

The ending for NCFOM is a bit err what?! But true to the novel apparently. Not sure if that makes it any better or not?!
