The geek roadie within 'needs' this http://www.roadcyclinguk.com/bike-reviews/rapha-stowaway-jacket/3400.html jacket, but the MTBer say it's not going to last five mins under a camelpac, let alone survice a tumble….

…rain jacket advice required pls 🙂

All Rapha is very overpriced I am sure there are very similar products around that are quite a bit cheaper

    Here you go –

Same thing at half the price.

I find it works pretty well.

Thanks for that, do you guys tend to don-doff or wear all day? I've been out a few times with folk who wear their goretex for the entire ride??? (winter, late autum rides mind)

I think I'm giving this way too much thought 🙂

    Cheers anyway,

Now, what can I obsess…..ummmm ah yes, Titanium cassettes..

Roadie waterproofs are emergency only as I hate riding in the rain on the road
In fact I cant ever remember wearing my Montane Featherweight thing but it packs down to be microscopic and weights err a feathers weight

So buy cheap would be my advice

On the MTB its a different ball game
I wear waterproofs thro most of the winter and ride in anything

    Different set of demands

    Cheers

That De Marchi jacket is only used when required (for wet or wind). I much prefer to ride sleeveless and any degree of waterproofing also results in some sweatiness. Thankfully, it's thin enough that it can easily be stowed in a jersey pocket.
