  • Quiet freehub – sign of imminent failure?

    The freehub on my ss (shimano, quite old) seems oddly quiet when freewheeling but still engages ok. Not had a ss for long but can’t see how not having a mech etc would make the freehub quiet. Is this a sign of imminent failure/need for service or ss/shimano vs mavic crossrides on my geared bike?

    lots of shimano hubs are quiet anyway – are you sure it was ever noisy ?
