If I try to use the 12V 2.7A battery charger (pictured below) to top-up / charge a standard 12V car battery (one that is not completely discharged), will it work? (Or does 2.7A output not have enough ummmph?)

    Cheers! 😀

The battery will say the capacity on the top. It might read something like 60Ah.

It’s not 100% efficient as this but a 60Ah battery will charge in 60/2.7 hours

Awesums… so it’s time, rather than raw power is what I need here. Yes, it’s all coming back to me now. A-level physics… voltage = ‘pressure’, current = ‘speed’

Therefore, less ‘speed’ = more time spent charging.

    Cheers!

Have you both conspired to have all the gear and no eyed deer on the same thread?!?

Yep, that charger should be OK.
It is only when car batteries are completely dead that they sometimes need a bit of clever charging to revive them.

    OP,

I am also looking at something like that.

Where did you buy that? Website link please.

It came with the moth light trap we bought to use for, err… trapping moths in the woods. Now I need it to charge a car battery attached to a tree for the BBC.

    Somewhat strange, I know.. 🙂

Dunno where you can buy one separately from though.
