Sometimes (every few hours), I got a box popping up on my screen saying “the following programme has crashed: skype click to call”. Then I get a big yellow band below the toolbar saying “skype click to call has crashed”.
Anyone got any idea how I can rid of it? It’s rather annoying.

    Thanks!

    OK guess your in chrome?
Go to settings, Extensions in the left of the window. Turn off skype in browser.

    Failing that uninstall skype

Buy a Mac 😉 (well someone will be along to say that in a minute anyway)

Or go to Start/Windows Button, open the Control Panel, find Add or Remove Programs/Programs and Features, find Skype Click to Call and uninstall the sucker.

Also, I’m not exactly sure what it is. I use skype, didn’t know there was a separate programme called click to call. What’s that all about?

OK Chrome is still best. Skype has added Click to Call into the Browser. There is an option in Skype setup not to do this though.

As above Click the Spanner Top Right
    Click Settings
Click Extensions left of the page
You should see Click to call or a skype entry here
Either uncheck enable or hit the trash can to get rid.

Be aware you may need to do this when skype updates – you may have an option not to install Click to Call

Ok, thanks. What does the click to call thing do anyway?

Click to call highlights numbers on screen which it thinks are telephones, so you can just click these & then skype will call them.

They usually have a blue skype icon immediately to the left of the number. It works in Word & Excel, too.

it guesses if there is a phone number in the web page and lets you Click on it to Call it (quite a good name).

Only worth it if you use skype as your only phone or struggle to copy a number

The most important thing is that some of these people helping your are geeks, not nerds. A nerd would be unable to help you at all because he would be too afraid to respond or incapable of putting the appropriate words together even if he could.

    Flash crash in Chrome

worth a look – same for Windows and OSX.

Uninstall skype, it’s awful. If you want to video chat use facebook or google talk.
