Sorry numpty question, there seems to be mixed views online, as to which way to bleed rads.

Do you start with the bottom rads. first, then do upstairs?

Or is it the other way round?

Does it matter which order you do them in, i.e start nearest the boiler?

Doubt it matters much but I always start with the highest [ or furthest away if some are the same height and work down

At work we generally start in the lower floors of a building and work our way up

Funny thing is, I was told many many years ago, which way was best by a so called Pro, but age not being on my side, I have forgotten 😉

All you’re doing is venting the hydrogen that’s collected in the tops of the rads. If a lot is collecting, it’s a product of iron oxidation inside the rads so you need to increase the amount of inhibitor in the system.

We found that its most effective to bleed them all twice and then it doesn’t matter which way round. Anyway there will always be one or two that have some wierd kinks in the pipe run to confound the whole thing..
