    Morning All,

Only looking at 9spd as no funds for shifter and mech

Is a new Shimano chain going to be narrower than my existing Sram chain?
Will either chain work on each others cassette? (pretty sure this is a Yes)
Is there a Shimano equivalent to the Sram quick link, or is it just the pins?
Is there another 9spd 36/? out there other than the Shimano HG61?

    Cheers
    Carl

    YES

No, just pins. But SRAM links work on Shimano chains

    Nope.

As a note, my 9-speed XT chain has 9-speed powerlinks, though my HG50 8-speed chain is too wide for the 8-speed powerlinks.

    Cheers, although I thought as much I wasn’t 100%

I didn’t know about the Sram powerlinks working on Shimano though, I thought the Shimano chains, spesh the HG were narrower
