A few of us are considering a few days in the south west in Spring '12.
We're pouring over maps and the like but conscious that we could miss some riding gems? Are there any recommended routes?
We're reasonably experienced, competent riders. (Don't mind climbing). Thinking c90-120 miles and ~10,000ft of climbing over the 3-days. And ideally some Inns to overnight in for ale and good hearty grub!
Any help please?

As I say, we don't have a clue about riding down there (knowledge limited to riding the Tarka trail on a family holiday).

it's a bit different to the tarka trail !! lots of places to stay in bovey tracey which is probably the best place to base yourselves for eastern dartmoor.
having done three QEDs and one QWED I always find the last day a real killer . Being realistic about how far you can ride would be my advise. Route wise talk a local into guiding you each day .

Ask Sharki off of here for Quantocks guiding - he's more than happy if you buy him lunch and a pint. Showed us some cracking stuff a few weeks back

Was just going to ask about the Quantocks and Exmoor bit and, importantly, how we go about joining it all together!?
by car - forget trying to link it all on the bikes.
my advice would be do exmoor on day one because that is definately the most physically demanding. do dartmoor next day because you need to have your wits about you and best not to do it half asleep. finish on the q's because the climbs are pretty short and sweet and the riding is point and shoot.
