  • Putting a bigger shock on a mk1 nomad…

Been looking for a coil shock for a little while and I've been offered a 8.75 x 2.75 shock cheap, however the nomad is normally a 8.5×2.5.

Read a few threads on mtbr about using a bigger shock successfully to give a bit more travel. This would suit me as the coil would only be used for morzine & uplifts, back to air for wales/uk.

    Anyone done this successfully?

    speak to tftuned or mojo

imo it will cock the geometry up, unless you run loooong forks

I find 6.5" travel adequate on a nomad in the alps (until I take delivery of my tr450 that is) – But then again I run totems on the front, more travel on the front has much more benefit than more travel on the rear

According to the posts on mtbr it raises the BB a smidgen, no noticable difference to geo – p

I'm only considering the shock because it will save me about £150 over a new 8.5×2.5
