Jr gets a couple for carving. Most will be roasted with sweet chilli sauce and put in the freezer. One is getting the booze treatment

What you’ll need:

* 1 Pumpkin
* A quantity of brown sugar

Preperation.

Cut off the top 1/4 of the pumpkin. Hollow the seeds and loose material in the
center, put the seeds aside for planting. Fill up the space with sugar. Replace
the top.

Wait for hissing and popping. Then pierce a hole through the bottom of the
pumpkin and allow the rum to drain.

nope not done with pumpkin before. got the idea from an old boy in the pub.
there’s nothing the yokels wont try and make booze with round here.

I have a pumpkin question.. I’ve managed to persuade a couple of the blighters to grow in the back yard.. but they are very much of the dark green with a tiny bit of orange mottling variety..

Do I just have to wait for them to mature for a bit longer down here in balmy Devon.. or will we be having different coloured jack ‘O lanterns this year..?
