What you have there is a pulled pork roll.

I’d call that a pulled pork sandwich, not a burger.

It tasted good, nice spicy pulled pork with chillis, until I bit into the *cucumber*. FFS.

    I SAID NO TEETH!

More seriously I’d be disappointed if my pulled pork came on a burger. I want a bun full of pork and maybe barbeque sauce but preferably apple.

    Excellent.

Pulled pork should be served with smokey, sweet homemade BBQ sauce and homemade coleslaw (not this dry shit that’s popular either).
Pulled pork is one of the easiwest things to cook in the smoker, but it’s not easy make it nice as it actually has little taste on its own. Rub and sauce is important.

It was in some nice spicy barbecue sauce (I prefer it to sweet). It was supposed to come with apple sauce but I asked them not to include it. Don’t like fruit and meat together.

Why would you expect a Pulled Pork Burger to also contain a beefburger?

Does a Chicken Burger also contain a beefburger?

Does a Hamburger also contain a beefburger?

Does a Cheeseburger also contain… oh.. wait.. umm

I’ve lost my train of thought now.

    And I’m suddenly really hungry.

Things called ‘burger’ contain burgers, generally, even if it’s chicken or lamb. A pork burger would also be a burger in its own right and not contain a beefburger.

However, you can’t make a burger *out of* pulled pork. Having been pulled, by definition, it is not burger compatible. So the appelation ‘burger’ implies a burger topped with pulled pork. And beef is the typical choice.

The Red Lion in Alnmouth do a lovely Pork Burger & doesn’t mention the word ‘pulled’.

‘Pulled’ is a new word for ‘shredded’ is it not? or have I missed something over the last 59 years?

No, pulled is different: Pulled is pork cooked over a long time so it can be “pulled” apart by hand. Shredded is just chopped up pork.

Pulled pork burger should be a beef burger with some pulled pork on. What you had is not that. Don’t mind swapping the burger for extra pork but that’s not a pulled pork burger

Nah, in this instance ‘burger’ describes the style of bun and serving style.

Hmm… So It’s a recent invention then? Cos pulled ‘this & that’ is something I’d never heard of till a few years ago.

Not a recent invention no, it’s been popular in the Deep South of America pretty much forever.

Slow cooking and loads of barbeque sauce means cheaper cuts of meat are tender and taste great.

Isn’t the mass consumer ‘pulled pork’ just the pork which has been jet washed off the carcass

Local pub in town calls them smoked stacked burger. It has a burger as the name suggests with pulled pork, what you had was a pulled pork buttie. It’s only a stottie if it’s in a stottie.

I thought the 5th paragraph of the grim up north act was that we didn’t mention the beaches of Northumberland, Stotties and Pease Pudding to the southerners.
