Mate is visiting from the US, and has an overnight stop in the Marriott on the Cromwell Road. Any decent pub recommendations in the area, for a decent pint and maybe a bite to eat? Alternatively, any recommendations for where to eat, nothing fancy, easy/quick and reasonably priced?

How about the Devonshire on Marloes Road? About 2 blocks NW, towards Ken High St; used to be quite BoHo, maybe now gastro-pubbed up.

Lived on Pembroke Rd for a while some years back.

Recollect these were decent places for a beer and food…..

    Excellent, thanks a lot.

Been in the Queens Arms I think, before a ‘gig’ at the RAH? I checked and Charles Aznavour is there on friday so i guess it will be rammed with ladies of a certain age until 1930 and then dead?

I work on Pembroke Road. The Warwick arms at the extreme West of Pembroke Gardens and Warwick Road is worth a visit for a pint and a bite of curry. The Churchill Arms at the junction of Ken. Church Street and Camden Street is very quirky and does a no-nonsense plate of grub in the Thai “greenhouse” out the back. Can’t go wrong with The Builders or the Scars dale as mentioned above. Be warned that all can get very busy and none are cheap.
