  • PSA. Virgin mobile 100gb for £20

Was checking out Virgin’s site today for a friend and found a decent deal-

5000 minutes, unlimited text and 100gb data. WhatsApp, Twitter and messenger doesn’t come out of that either! Unused data rolls over.

I wonder if I could replace my home broadband with this?

The terms say “Tethering and peer to peer file sharing prohibited. Acceptable use policy applies.”
So not really a replacement for home broadband.

No tethering allowed, so unless your phone is the only internet you use I’d say no.

Shame, would be a faster solution than regular broadband for me.

Still it’s a lot of data for £20

The artificial end of net neutrality.

Unless you can chew through 100gb of Spotify or YouTube, it’s a pointless figure.

Virgin throttle the crap out of everything other than mainstream streams.

But how would it know you are tethering? My phone acts as a WiFi hub, can they detect this is happening compared to normal phone use surfing the net?

I used to be on Virgin and tethered on and off all the time. I think as long as you don’t take the piss you’ll be ok.

Note: iAnal. You may not be ok.

I’m with virgin 20gb for £15. I used tethering briefly while in France for a couple of weeks and it worked fine also used it a few times in the car. Never had a complaint. Not sure if there is a way for them to find out?

Yes they can block terthering. BT use to do it on their mobile packages.
