Anyway Dave, from your comments on Facebook you have no use for a bike of any kind currently?
Sadly yes. Gutted is not the word!

When in halls in Wessex Lane a guy i had been at school with got battered for no reason in Swaythling - gang pulled up in a van, jumped out with bats and mullered him.
We had two Police Officers try this with us. We were carrying a drunk friend from the Academy. Car pulls up and two officers get out and one says 'do you want some/come on then'. We were were
Luckily one of the bouncers at the Academy saw this and shouted at them- they retreated and drove off. We were in shock and very sober.
I always thought there were Officers who joined for the aggro back in years ago but not in the sodding 90's.
Who's ex-SUMBC? I was 97-01.
SU was a (drug) hole back in the early 90s, I had the misfortune to visit once or twice. Second time we got involved in an armed robbery arrest where it turned out the armed guy was just a nut carrying a replica for "fun".
Sadly Soton can be quite rough. I think the lifestyle/financial situation of being a student means that you're more likely to experience it too.
What a fantastic post to read about an hour before I head to LW for a spin. For once I'm actually meeting up with someone but normally ride solo there.
To be fair I've been riding there for a good 5-6 years most weekends never had any trouble myself but had heard tales of muggings. It's rare I see scum there but I see the evidence in burnt out stolen motorbikes. Occasionally some of them are ripping round on mx bikes.
Wondering whether I should carry my dlock in easy reach....being a 3rd dan should help a little bit too, might give at least one of them a surprise.
We used to live in the Flowers estate in Soton and there regular stories...
Cars got broken into regularly too, 99% certain it was the same guy. None of us kept bikes there though.
Vaguely recall a few pubs on the Portswood road that were a no go zone for Soton students.
We lived on Pansy road (sheesh).
i still remember the organised gang fights at Daisy Dip.
And the permanent police presence at the school gates
Great days...
I lived on tulip road....
Anyway I'm back from Lordswood wasn't attacked or mugged.
Directly said hello to the 3 dodgy looking teenagers hanging round with 2 mini-motos.
I'm positive it's harder to punch someone who's just said hello to you....
I lived on Viole(n)t Road for a year once.....!
Sad to see there are increasing problems in Lordswood, but then it was always possible.
why not just drag WCA out with you, his tales of cucumbery will turn the bone marrow of even the hoodest toerag into pot noodle.
Who's ex-SUMBC? I was 97-01.
I was there 01-05, proud to say I helped get it back on its feet after foot and mouth!
Yep, I'm ex-SUMBC as well! Happy days....!
Taik a duk wiv yu an yu'll neva get eny bovva
proud to say I helped get it back on its feet after foot and mouth!Did you not enjoy the random track around the edge of Lordswood that wasn't closed, I think it was classified as within the city and therefore wasn't covered by the restrictions!
I don't want to speculate
ban him!

True, what is the etiquette for attacking a cheery hello'er?
