It’s the television event you’ve all been waiting for!

We know how plenty of people here like to slag off the water companies. It just falls out of the sky, right?
Also there’s plenty of people here who are employed by the water industry.

Well, here’s something for all of you.
The Watermen is shown in 6, 1 hour episodes. It follows some of United Utilities staff around their jobs and hopefully gives people a small idea of the mind-numbing scale of engineering, scheduling and maintenance that is required to keep 7 million people with fresh water and to take away all their poo. The water cycle and how humans interact with it on an industrial scale is incredibly interesting but it largely operates seamlessly to everyone shitting away on their toilets because of the work that some of the people you’ll see in this documentary do behind the scenes.

See if you think your pound or so a day is too much when you watch a guy clean the ingress racks on one of the largest sewage works in Europe.
Set your recorders, less than two weeks to go!
