    If you didnt know already.. theres a 90% solar eclipse next month.
    The next one after this is 2081 and a full eclipse in 2090.

    94% or so where I am, 98% in the Outer Hebrides and Shetland

    Not so rare but a total lunar eclipse visible from the UK on the 28th September too :).

    For the 1999 one I was at the bottom of the gorge de verdon where a tree was acting as a myriad of pinholes casting hundreds of little images of the sun over a vast sheet of white limestone. I hope I can find somewhere equally memorable this time but I suspect I’ll pop up onto the roof of the Newgate Hotel for a half hour before work. I wonder if I can find someone with a solar telescope to blag a look through…
