Just a word of warning for the Rivington locals. We did the descent from the car park at the top of Rivington Road from the Belmont side this morning and some halfwit had built a series of low “walls” right across the trail towards the bottom where it crosses Green Withins Brook before the fast gravel road down to Lead Mines Clough.
The first one was about 2 feet high and to be honest I wasn’t sure if I’d somehow gone off track because the trail is quite wide and has so many line choices but this blocked up the whole path. As a result I left the first one but when I came across the second two it was clear that this was a deliberate effort to stop bikers.
We’ve dismantled the lower two of them but take care if you’re riding down that way. I’m strugglng to upload a pic because FLICKR have been arsing aboit with the format again but for those who know it, it is called Mud Splat Corner on Strava.
