Did mine last night. It's transformed the speed of my 3g. A lot faster, no freezing so far and not been thrown out of any apps yet.

Update: tried doing the Restore on a different PC with a fresh install of iTunes. Still doesn't work, fails at the very end with Error 1013.
Booked in to the Apple Smug Bar tomorrow.

Unlucky.Seems to be a bit random when that happens, mine crashed when I first got it was enabling it. Worked like a charm since though.

I bricked mine last night, so I updated iTunes to 10.0 and deleted the software update to force it to download it again.
This worked, but it didn't restore my apps at all - I copied over all the ones I used and have halved the number of screens I need!

Damn kids! Most Apple stores have had to block the domains and sub-domains of the jailbreak.me sites to stop people doing it. Bit childish really.
But they won't block pron sites. So when I went in with the family the other week to look at buying an iPad and our 8 year old boy looked at the one next to me that was full of pron we went to complain to a member of staff who said that its unfortunate and that was it. No appologies or anything. So I'm now shopping for tablet pc's and netbooks.

The "Restore" button erases everything and loads the OS from scratch.
But once it is complete you should then be able to select "Restore from Backup.." on the phone icon:
Which restores all your apps, settings, emails, texts, contacts etc.

I mean... 1300 notes for a macbook pro, when the equivalent Windows laptop can be had for 800? Shiny is not worth that much.

Not particularly, but likewise I wouldn't expect Apple to be responsible for the content of the internet.
I'm not very sure what you expected them to do. You complained to a member of staff who said it "its unfortunate and that was it". Which it was. Seems like a pretty reasonable response to me.

Hard resetting your iPhone can speed it up for a while. Here’s how to do it:
* Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time, hold both for about 5 seconds
* Ignore the typical ‘Slide to power off message’ and continue holding both buttons until the iPhone shuts itself off
* When your iPhone 3G resets itself you can stop holding the buttons, it takes about 10 seconds to hard reset the iPhonePosted 1 year ago # -

I went to see the "Genius" today at the Apple Store. He confirmed the problem and gave me a brand new replacement 3GS on the spot, despite the fact I was about a month out of my warranty.
Yay Apple! I'm sorry I ever questioned you. My faith was weak. All hail Jobs!
Even better, we then went to O2, traded in the missus' old 3G and got a shiny new 4G. So I'll get that and she can have the new 3GS.
