Mech and er, grip shift bought for new build. Not used gripshift since 1996. Fancy giving it a whirl again. Figure for £50 it was worth a punt…

Those new gripshift are superb, and previous 9spd XO was already pretty good. I wish on-one had a 3×10 option tho, sticking with a triple as i use the bike for bikepacking and need all the help i can getting up hills.

I’ll be 1x10ing. Will make a pleasant change from SSing 🙂 Anyone want to buy a LH gripshift? 😉

Edit – only heard good stuff about new gripshift. Cheers for the feedback stato

If you bought the £50 one i think you only get the right-hand shifter?

Ah, so it is. Couldn’t work out the difference between the £85 and £50 version.

the way on-one/PX manage their website you’ll be lucky if you havnt just spent £50 on a banana, with just a ‘few’ incorrect details in the description.

I was thinking that too hora! X9 T2 is £55, is XO really worth the extra!?!

Cheaper than swapping frames because you keep buying the wrong size 😉

where did you get that then? ive not seen a PSA.

EDIT: 90euro on bike-discount.de, usually cheapest, tho tweeks seem to have them for £70.

Junkyard my XTR mech is now 12yrs old and shifts sweetly. Everyone swaps frames.

Most people normally swap frames after riding it though.

If your xtr mech is that old (won’t that be 7 speed, if its 12 years old.), you really need to out some miles in rather than just building something up, realising you have jumped on the wrong band wagon and then stripping it down and selling it again.

In Hora’s defence – my bud has had an XTR mech since about 1997.

    It’s still going, runs 9 speed reasonably well… 😯

Richc I ride twice a week every week off road. Maybe I’m not the fastest but you are one of those smooth-trail riders so you don’t count. every frame is ridden. I can show you my rims; gouged and scratched. I’m also a fairly good mechanic. Bar rounding bolts and experimenting with fork oil I can make ANY setup work.

went to grip shift earlier this year after breaking my thumb. Still working out the best grips pairing for them but will get there.
Started with 9sp x9’s and moved up to X0 grips and x9 mech. Working very well so far. The missus had a roll out on it and was impressed after 1 ride.

Good spot, after 20 years of twisty use I’ve had to think far too hard about changing gear on my new bike with triggers. Only the cost of the new grip shifts was holding me back so happy days 😆

It’s also amazing how much they will put up with re rubbish cables.

Shish thats a lot. Long cage so you need at least two as they’ll be trashed over any rocks.
