    Section of Highlands walk closed

A stretch of the Great Glen Way in the Highlands has been closed until the end of March next year.

The closure from Allt na Criche to Rubha Ban on the Fort Augustus-Invermoriston section of the route is needed for the harvesting of trees.

Highland Council said diversions for walkers have been marked by orange arrows, but warned that some sections were steep.

It added that the alternative route was not suitable for cyclists and horses.

I'll bet the diversions are way more entertaining than any of the rest of the way…

(sorry, had a bad experience of the GGW!)

It is a bit of a boring ride it has to be said.

Yeah I was a little disappointed with the ride to be honest. I did it starting at Inverness and remember there was a good section through some woods just before Drumnadrochit, and a few others closer to Inverness – but from Drumnadrochit to Fort Augustus it's just wide landrover track. And very hilly too!
Then it's mostly canal from there onto Fort William.

West Highland Way is far better if you want to do a popular long distance route.
