anyone managed to get one hooked up to their PC, I'm still at a complete loss with my plain old legend one and TBH without the ability to up/down load routes its useless, i can read a map well enough not to get lost, I just want soemthing that means I don't have to bother!

Spooner – what is the problem? Did you try gps babel? Another one worth a look is gps utility.
I assume you have a USB converter, or have the serial ports mapped properly in windoze?

I had loads of trouble setting up a cheap serial>USB converter off Ebay, but if this one is USB it will be easy.

The eTrex H needs the USB to serial converter, but this cable works out of the box.

The eTrex H needs the USB to serial converter,

Unless of course you already have a suitable serial port on your PC

Does the Etrex give distance travelled? Online manual doesn't mention it
