Ive not found a PSA before, so I’m pleased to share this….

screwfix have the 25mm x 9m Gorilla tape for £1.59. Its on clearance, and you can just click and collect. Its great for tubeless conversions 🙂

£2.99 at Halfords , great stuff , still a good price compared to those robbing sods at Stan’s! 😉

Do you wrap it round the wheel once or several times?

depends how tight the tyre is. Two wraps on my current rim and tyre combo but my mate needed a lot more on his. You want the tyre tight enough so when it comes to inflating there is a half decent seal already, although if you have a compressor this is less important

edit… however too much tape will make it a b*itch to get the tyre on

    Steve750 , depends .

I do once , overlapping by about 3″ , I’d never get my tyre on otherwise.

I only do one layer and I cut away any tape that is running up sides the of the rims so that it only covers the bottom. Is this not the normal way?

I thought the normal way was to cut to same width as the exterior rim width before fitting, so that there’s a small amount up the rim walls (there’s an article on Pinkbike with pics). I’ve got two turns on the front, and three on the back, as my back tyre is getting baggy. Probably be in trouble if I buy a new back tyre!

I let mine run up the side slightly, but then I’m even more of a pikey and only use electrical tape which easily takes ~40psi (doesn’t work on 100psi road wheels though), figured if the tyre is resting on the tape then even if the glue is dissolved by water the tape can’t start to lift up.

For the record, it’s £1.79 on Amazon, with free delivery, for those who cannot get to Screwfix.

Anyone use self amalgamating tape ?
I’ve some for re-sealing some wiring I’ve extended.
    It’s great stuff.
First thing to pop in to my head was a tubeless conversion. 🙂

I’ve had a play at work & it sealed 6 bar easily.

That’s a good PSA by the way, but 2 weeks late for me. 😐
I ordered some from EBay ready for a ghetto tubeless on my Knard conversion but used a split 24″ tube instead. I notice Wickes sell it now also.
