No, I know, but I was surprised to hear them on the Radio One together.
Reminded me of how old I’m getting.
Ah, those halcyon days; listening to shows, getting through loads of C90s, blowing the dope smoke out of the window, thinking me mum woon’t find out (she found me stash once, threw it out. I had to explain to me mates, where that eighth they’d chipped in for, had gone).
One or two people I knew were pirate DJs. The amount of money they would spend on transmission equipment. And the technology! Microwave links to aerials, placed on tower blocks. The DTI would nab the aerial, but not get the entire studio. The pirates were often just too fly. The elaborate schemes they’d concoct, just to stay one step ahead, and carry on broadcasting. So’s we’d have choons dem to listen to. If it haddunt been for the industriousness of the pirates, we’d praps not have had a whole genre of music evolve the way it has.
Course, it’s all Podcasts now. Just not the same. 🙁
