Its clearly a serious analytical piece of investigative journalism, looking at a culture and the way it embraces and celebrates the institution of marriage. And is in no way a cheap shot, and a chance for people to point and guffaw in horror at pikeys
I'm interested in watching this, as I know very little about gypsy culture, and would like to learn more. I just hope it's not 'let's laugh at a minority group who have differing values to our own' type divisive crap that serves only to polarise our already fragmented society even further...

I'll be watching. I thought the last one was actually pretty good and made me appreciate that actually they have some very moral, upstanding and traditional values.

And the 'women in hot pants' quota was higher than a vintage 70's edition of Top of the Pops. Which isn't necessarily what you'd expect from a program focusing exclusively on weddings

From my brief encounters with weddings and all they involve (which has only been in the last few weeks!!) I'd say that most 'big' weddings are a vile circus, be it gypsy or not? I've tried on much worse/gopping dresses in the last few weeks than some of the gypsy girls wear but they are white so its ok???!!! Was nice to see young couples willing to devote themselves at such a young age, they do seem more monogomous(sp?) than most young people. ..... stop being so judgey you miserable lot!

According to the interview on Front Row (Radio 4), the original documentary was very well received by the Gypsy community as a whole and that's why the programme makers were allowed greater access to film this follow up.

Well just to complete the circle I could be potentially working on a documentary about Brazil and the UK (and maybe narrating too) which could well be shown back in the UK so you can all critique that one!

never saw the original documnentary but the young so in love couple who married for life split up about 6 months later...
I saw the advert and saw the bit about evictions, wonder if theyll go into the cigarette smuggling, the dangerous sofa importing or even the fact that some of them are actually tenants in council houses in wolverhampton... (on paper!), knowing people that live near to the largest unauthorised camp in the UK (billericay) its pretty much hell a lot of the time...

I remember the original documentary.
The enormous dresses the brides wear can weigh up to 30 stone - almost 200kg. Most brides end up with scarred hips from bearing the weight.
It was interesting - if not fantastic in the real sense of the word.
