Got them in-store as well, picked one up today, seems fairly well built for the price, bit heavy but folds up small and has it’s own pouch. Not sure how good it’ll be for moving snow but I reckon it’ll be great for draining puddles on my local trails.

I have been using these sorts of things for years. Mine’s a Army issue trenching tool, looks exactly the same but probably just better made. It’s great for general trail maintenance.

Good spot, good for £5. Although they are £10 in my local surplus store.

I second the military surplus shovels. The cheap ones are poorly made, and are only suitable for light use. Thay may be good enough for some uses, though.

This one is mine, got from an antique shop in Todmorden. Issued to the swiss as an avalanche shovel in 1958, date of issue is stamped on the leather pouch. I’ve used it for shaping jumps, but it weighs a ton. Don’t get much better lifetime guarantee than it already being 54 years old. 😮
