Good spot, I’ve got a stack of old tyres in the garage and I was about to order a pair of these for the hardtail!

Shame you didn’t spot it last week, it would have saved me a bit 🙁

Yes only from Saturday for a month. Worth waiting two days if you are going to buy any, also a limit on how many you can buy at any one time.

Too bad they don’t have Butcher as you have to buy in pairs 🙁

I have a pair of wire Captain Sport tyres lyring around in the garage, not the lightest and only 2.0.

Would a pair of 2.3 Ground Controls make a decent summer setup for trail use?

which of these spesh tyres for Hebden/Gisburn/Lee Quarry?

    😀

    (Genuine question BTW)

What do people think of Ground Controls vs say, Racing Ralphs – centre tread looks similar. And how big do the 2.3s come up?

bah only available in retro sizes, this is just spesh clearing out their soon to be obsolete stock

    Purgs, innit?

    Great offer.
I’ve some very tired (geddit?!?!?) Cinders and some knackered Ignitors to get rid of.

    Good.
I’ll put them on my soon to be obsolete wheels.

Aaaah ha! Time to justify my excessive tyre hoarding!

To be fair, I’ve not tried the new Ground Controls. 😀
Might give them a go instead.

But I do like Purgs, ‘specially on the back. Just a very comfy, grippy all rounder.
    Big though.

Ooh, that’ll do! Been running Purgs/GC combo on the obsolete big wheeler and am well impressed, so I’ll have some more, thank you, please. 🙂

Anyone know the difference between a Ground Control and a Ground Control Grid?

I know the Grids aren’t on the scheme, but apart from sizing options the spec is the same as the standard GC.
    Odd.

Nothing like them, the tread blocks are far bigger and they don’t roll anywhere near as fast. The GC is more akin to a Nobby Nic

I get on well with a Butcher/Purgatory combo around Hebden.

Just phoned bike shop near me , he didn’t think they were participating because they would need to buy in £2K worth of stock .

    Cheers Tracey

Anyone know if JE James are taking part?

Cheers. Faster than a Captain, though? I currently have Captains front and rear.

Dumb question, is it trade in one tyre and buy up to 4? Seens perfect for me to trade some 26ers to 29ers…

I might be being an idiot, but are the Purgatorys tubeless?

I’d assumed (perhaps wrongly) that 2BR stood for 2bliss Ready?

Save me asking but anyone know if leisure lakes are running this deal?

btw only the 2.1 version of the Ground Control is on offer. Which is a shame as the 2.3 version sounded just about right as a rear.

fyi Evans appear to be selling a 29er Purgatory for £20 anyway.

Think I might pick up a retro 26″ Purgatory if Evans are doing the deal.

    Am I missing something?
Can I use old tyres with tears, worn down to the canvas?

i don’t think you need old tyres.

There was an advert on the back of this months mbr and there was no mention of old tyres.

hand in any brand of tyres to participating Specialized dealers and get new tyres at reduced price*. While stocks last!

Think you have to go in with the two old tyres. Can only buy in pairs and max of two at any one time. May have to get a couple more spares

Just fitted a purgatory to the rear of my bike to try as they are so cheap. Went on my rim (stans flow) perfectly, inflated first time with a a track pump with no leak at all even before I put in any sealant…

    Will test it out tomorrow.
