Traffic Film Remover comes in at about a pound a litre and is used at about 1% dilution.

I use Fenwicks Caravan Cleaner at the mo, but even that is a monumental rip off compared to the above.
I wish I’d known this years ago, I’d have saved a bloody fortune.

When all that is said and done, for those who like to use MucOff, and live in Brigend, it’s a decent deal.

The problem with that traffic film stuff is the quantities it comes in.

…although, I did find 500ml for £6, which works out at 50litres at 100:1.

The Magnum Force (I know, I know) is about six quid for 5 litres, including VAT.

I’ll certainly be giving that a try next time.

After more than a cursory look, you’re right. £6-7 seems to get a decent amount of most brands TFR.

I got suckered into that Fenwicks foaming chain cleaner. Bloody useless.

I found the fenwicks foaming stuff worked as long as you attacked it with a brush afterwards. Annoying because it looks cool, but in reality the foam just means the detergent isn’t actualy in contact with the cassette/oil.

With the 200:1 dilution stuff, that’s for jet washes, you’d still need to put it on the drivechain stronger (like muck off), and then wash the bike with a bucketfull of 100:1.

The chain cleaner/aerosol combo really does strip the chain clean in a few seconds though.

Word of warning…..

A lot of TFR’s contain an acid which is good at attacking specialised coatings like kashima and anodisation.

Any specific details?

Poundland have ‘dirtybike’ cleaner for a quid. works as well as any

caravan cleaner from aldi was absolute pish, binned it as it was cluttering up the shelf in the garage

A quick look at the spec sheet for Magnum force shows that it contains: SODIUM HYDROXIDE

This is pretty good at attacking special finishes as well as untreated metals….

There are some marketed as ‘green’ or ‘non caustic’, I’ll do some research when the Fenwicks runs out in a year or so.
