After a few years in the shed I’m getting my Prophet out again. Having a good look over it the drive train is absolutely knackered, totally shagged, lots of teeth missing etc.

Seeing as I’ll need rings, chain and cassette anyway I figure I might just 1×11 it.

My cranks are Shimano Saint with a 34, 22 and bash, I take it I could just replace the middle ring with a narrow wide ring (thinking 32 teeth) whizz of the front mech and replace, chain, an 11-46 Suntour cassette and rear clutch mech.

I’m just wondering if I might come up against any snags doing thing this way or is it just as straightforwad as it seems? The middle ring gives me a chainline in the middle of the block so hoping it should just work.

As straightforward as it seems – using middle ring will get you a decent chainline.
