With an “e” rather than an “a”. I know too many Clarkes. 🙂

I pronounce the word clerks as: ‘clarks’

but I pronounce the name of that film as ‘Clurks’, because it is the name of a film.

The thing about Munich, Warsaw, Copenhagen and the rest is that they are Anglicisations for major cities that have become part of the language. Mangling the pronounciation of the village you happen to be biking in isn’t quite the same thing, whether or not you are in Wales or France.

If some foreigner came to England and started mangling up the place names you’d correct them, I’m sure.

have no issues with the LLan bit, “W = oo” helps immensely though as just couldn’t figure that out… cool got it now

Somewhere in between, I suppose. Listen to some Welsh on the internet, you’ll hear that sound often enough. I think the BBC have some learning sites which might help.
