I have an old polar S510 (I think that’s the model) which is probably about 10 years old. After a long lay off I tried to get it going at the weekend and treated her to a new battery in the speed sensor. All seems well if you have the watch near the sensor but if you move the watch further away it stops reading the speed and distance.

Should I change the watch battery as well or does that not make any difference. Watch seems to be fine btw on it’s own. Any other suggestions?

Only other thing I can think is that it may be because i’m not using an official polar wheel magnet!

    Thanks

when my polar stuggles to read the HRM strap or transfer the IR to the PC, it’s time for a new watch battery. The magnet will make no difference, there may be an LED on the speed sensor that may illuminate.

There may also be a jumper within the speed sensor to extend the range if you want to use it on the rear wheel.

    Hope that helps
