i have a HTC Wildfire, ive installed ENDOMONDO as kindly suggested on here.

on my contract i dont have any FREE internet, when you turn GPS on does it charge you even though I have ‘mobile network’ turned off?

some people have said yes it charges you a little as it picks up your position from local masts?

    cheers

if data is turned off, it can’t use assisted-gps.

it’ll take longer to get a first fix but it will work.

GPS isn’t the internet, it uses satellites not phone masts

You may get charged for maps though

GPS doesn’t cost anything to use as it uses the signal from GPS satellites around the world. They’re just there and free.

What you can and will get charged for is if you use any of the mapping that many apps like Endomondo provide since that gets downloaded from Google, etc. Also if you upload your results, unless you’re on your own wifi.

If you have mobile network (or more importantly mobile data) turned off then you should never get charged (usual caveats apply 🙂 )

If I need to just turn my mobile data on for a few mins to get the AGPRS data and then off again,, when I get home endomondo get all it needs via wifi.
