    Hi all

I was prob going to get some of these built up for my Superlight and was wondering what spokes I should go for. I ride mainly xc / trail and small drop offs etc. and my body weight is about 182 lbs and dropping.

Obviously I would like them to be as light as poss but keep their shape.

Would DT Rev be a bit weak for my weight?

    Would DT Comp be better?

    What are ACI spokes like?

Is there a better spoke that light and stronger I should look at?

Thanks all for you help on my first post.

Why don’t you just go for pre built Hope Hoops!

They are a good strong build!

And cheaper, at least when I bought mine. You even get spare spokes!

Revs would probably be fine but if you are in any doubt then the small weight saving isn’t worth it.

    ACIs are fine IME too.

    There’s no magic to spokes.

Places like 18bikes (hope workshops?) can get coloured hubs on hope hoops for the same money.

Yep some dealers can do coloured hubs.

Am I right in thinking supercomps are the in between weight/stiffness ones (triple butted ones)

I really wouldn’t worry about spoke strength, more important is a good wheel build.

Stronger spokes in a crap build will be weaker than lighter spokes in a good build.

Yes, as Fathomer says, we at 18 Bikes can get the blue hubs on standard Hope Hoops and as much as it pains me as a wheelbuilder, they are better value than getting me to build you a set.

Give us a bell on 01433 621111 and we’ll sort you out.

Built flows on pro 2 evo’s on friday and used comps. I have used rev’s on my road wheels in the past but happy with what I used on these flow’s.Never even considered using rev’s on flow’s or crest’s.

Hope Tech Shops can specify hub colours / spokes / nipples.

    Coombes Cycles, Hereford. WEBSITE

Very good wheel builders themselves, too.
