I don’t think I’ll willingly drive again.
This year we went to Les Arcs and flew to Gen, which as anyone who knows about such things will tell you isn’t really the easiest way to do it, but it’s the way that worked for us.
Neither option is ‘easy’, but for me if you’re going to Morzine flying is a no-brainer.
It’s 18 hours door to door to drive, it’s 5-6 to fly.
To drive cost a little as £400 per vehicle for a car on the Ferry, Maybe £500 for Van on the Tunnel – typically 3 per vehicle by the time you’ve loaded stuff – say £150 each.
Flying is £200ish, plus transfers of £30 – there’s so much traffic between Geneva and Morzine they’re every 30 mins. So it does cost £80 more, but unlike Les Arcs – you don’t really need a vehicle in Morzine, everything you need is walking/riding distance.
You get ‘more holiday’ too, this year My Mate and I flew, we arrived fairly fresh lunchtime, had a nice lunch, mooched around the town, if we’d had our bikes with use we could have had a ride. Our friends arrived tired, stressed and hungry 8-9 hours later. On the last day we got up, went riding, got back to the Chalet at about 3pm, had a quick shower and headed for the airport, we were home later that night. They had an evening in the Chalet, got up at 4am and arrived late the next night, tired, stressed
