A window salesman came round to quote for some doors and windows. They quoted our ‘standard’ back door at £500. I then noticed on their webiste that standard doors are on special at £400. A couple of days later the local free rag has the same offer of a standard door at £450.

The rep phoned me today asking what I thought about the quote. I mentioned the web offer and he mentioned that they would honour the current offer at £450.

I know that by law they should honour the web price, but not sure if that would mean a ‘Friday afternoon’ job or bad feelings if I push too hard for the £400 price.

I don’t mind people making a living, but taking the mickey is another thing.

    Any thoughts?

£350 or you’ll get someone else to do it.

They dont have to honour the website as it could be an error.
If a website advertises something at the incorrect price and they realise before they send your order they do not have to honour the price. Some of course will as a gesture of goodwill.

This is because it is on a computer so has not been processed by human.

In this case it sounds like the offer is available and they are just wanting more money from you.

If you’re happy with the £450 then do it.

If not then get another quote, no shortage of windows suppliers.
